Arlington National Cemetery (Introduction)

The land that makes up Arlington National Cemetery once belonged to George Washington Parke Custis, who was the grandson of Martha Washington and step-grandson of George Washington. He is the one that built the Arlington House that you will see as we walk to the Kennedy grave site.

  • Two United States Presidents are buried at Arlington (Taft and Kennedy).
  • Twelve Supreme Court justices are buried in Arlington.
  • Lincoln's son and grandson are buried here.
  • Numerous astronauts, explorers, military, science, and sports figures are also buried in Arlington.
