Fun Facts:
Named after A.L. Burruss, who served nine terms in the Georgia Legislature from 1964 – 1986; and was a strong supporter of quality education for the state and for Marietta and Cobb County.
The Burruss Beaver mascot was selected because beavers were found on the property when construction began.
Our current MCS Teacher of the Year, Barbie Esquijarosa, teaches at A.L. Burruss.

Fun Facts:
Opened to accommodate growth in the Southwest part of the city, specifically, Whitlock Heights neighborhood. Originally serving grades 1-8, it was built as an open concept school with breezeways forming the halls to the classrooms.
Hickory Hills was the first elementary school to integrate in 1966.
